Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026.02.17

These are the terms for using Nickel. By creating an account or using the platform, you’re agreeing to these terms. Please read them — they’re short on purpose.

What Nickel Is

Nickel is a video platform built for creators. You can upload, share, and monetize video content. We provide the tools and infrastructure; you bring the creativity.

Your Account

You need an account to do most things on Nickel. When you create one:

  • You must be at least 13 years old
  • You must provide accurate information
  • You’re responsible for keeping your login credentials secure
  • You’re responsible for everything that happens under your account

If you suspect unauthorized access, let us know immediately.

Your Content

You own your content. Uploading a video to Nickel doesn’t transfer ownership to us. You retain all rights to everything you create and upload.

You grant us a license to host, store, transcode, and deliver your content through the platform. This license exists solely so we can operate the service — displaying your videos to viewers, generating thumbnails, creating different quality levels for streaming, and so on. This license ends when you remove your content or delete your account.

You’re responsible for your content. By uploading, you confirm that:

  • You have the right to share it
  • It doesn’t infringe on anyone else’s intellectual property
  • It complies with these terms and our content guidelines

Content Guidelines

Don’t upload content that:

  • Is illegal or promotes illegal activity
  • Exploits or endangers minors in any way
  • Contains non-consensual intimate imagery
  • Constitutes harassment, threats, or incitement to violence
  • Infringes on copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property
  • Is spam or deceptive

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these guidelines and to suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly or egregiously break the rules. We’ll try to communicate with you before taking action, but in serious cases we may act first.

Monetization

If you monetize content on Nickel (through supporter tiers, pay-per-view, or other mechanisms), additional terms may apply. The key points:

  • You’re responsible for any taxes on income you earn
  • We take a platform fee, which is clearly communicated before you opt in
  • Payouts are subject to minimum thresholds and processing times
  • We reserve the right to withhold payouts if we suspect fraud or terms violations

What You Can’t Do

Beyond the content guidelines above, don’t:

  • Attempt to access other users’ accounts or private data
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the platform’s infrastructure
  • Use bots or automated tools to inflate views, followers, or engagement
  • Circumvent any security measures, rate limits, or access controls
  • Resell or redistribute access to the platform
  • Use Nickel to distribute malware or conduct phishing

Intellectual Property

Nickel’s branding, design, code, and original content are ours. You can’t use our trademarks, logos, or proprietary materials without written permission.

If you believe your intellectual property has been infringed on Nickel, contact us with the relevant details and we’ll investigate.

Availability and Changes

We do our best to keep Nickel running, but we can’t guarantee 100% uptime. Maintenance, bugs, and the occasional act of nature happen. We’re not liable for temporary downtime.

We may update features, pricing, or these terms over time. For significant changes, we’ll give you advance notice. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time. Your content will be removed from the platform.

We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. In cases of severe or repeated violations, termination may be immediate. If we terminate your account, we’ll tell you why (unless legally prohibited from doing so).

Limitation of Liability

Nickel is provided "as is." We work hard to make it great, but we don’t guarantee that the platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet every specific expectation.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Nickel and its team are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability is limited to the amount you’ve paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, if anything.

Disputes

If something goes wrong, let’s try to work it out directly first. Reach out to us and we’ll do our best to resolve things. If we can’t, any disputes will be governed by the laws of the state of California (in which Nickel operates), and resolved in the courts of this jurisdiction.

The Whole Agreement

These terms, along with our Privacy Policy, make up the full agreement between you and Nickel. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still stands.
