Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026.02.17
Hey! This is the privacy policy for Nickel. We tried to keep it short and readable because nobody likes legalese. If you use Nickel, here’s what you should know about your data.
Who We Are
Nickel is a video platform for creators. When we say "we," "us," or "our," we mean the team behind Nickel. When we say "you," we mean you — someone with an account or someone visiting the site.
What We Collect
We only collect what we need to make the platform work.
Account information — your email address, display name, and any profile details you choose to add. You give us this when you sign up.
Video content — the videos you upload, along with titles, descriptions, and thumbnails. This is the whole point of the platform.
Usage data — basic analytics like page views and video plays so we can understand how the platform is being used and keep things running smoothly. We don’t track you across the web.
Payment information — if you’re a paying creator or supporter, payment data is handled by our payment processor Stripe. We don’t store your card details directly.
Third-Party Services
We use three external services:
Resend — handles transactional emails (account verification, password resets, notifications). They receive your email address when we send you a message. Their privacy policy is available at resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Cloudflare R2 — stores your uploaded video files. Video content is stored in Cloudflare’s infrastructure. Their privacy policy is available at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Stripe — handles payment processing. Their privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
That’s it. We don’t use Google Analytics, Meta pixels, or any other tracking or advertising services.
How We Use Your Data
- Running and improving the platform
- Sending you transactional emails (you can’t opt out of account-critical ones, but we won’t spam you)
- Storing and delivering your video content
- Responding to support requests
We don’t sell your data. We don’t share it with advertisers. We don’t do anything weird with it.
Data Retention
Your data sticks around as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we’ll remove your personal data and video content. Some data may persist in backups for a limited time, but it won’t be used or accessible.
Your Rights
You can:
- Access your data at any time through your account settings
- Update your profile information whenever you want
- Delete your account and associated data by contacting us
- Export your video content from the platform
If you’re in a jurisdiction with specific data protection laws (like the EU’s GDPR or California’s CCPA), you have additional rights. Reach out and we’ll work with you.
Cookies
We use minimal cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We don’t use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. There’s nothing to opt out of because we’re not tracking you.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest. That said, no system is perfectly secure. If we ever discover a breach that affects your data, we’ll notify you promptly.
Children
Nickel isn’t designed for children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we’ll delete it.
Changes to This Policy
If we make meaningful changes, we’ll let you know via email or a notice on the platform. We won’t quietly change things.
